How to Make Great New Year’s Resolutions

The New Year is only a short few days away. Have you made any goals or resolutions yet? Well quit wasting time! Take a few minutes to intentionally think about the coming year and what kinds of things you want to accomplish both professionally and personally. Here are 5 quick tips to get you started. Share your resolutions with us on Facebook and Twitter!

  • Be realistic by setting achievable goals. Winning the lottery, for example, is out of your grasp.
  • Describe your resolutions in specific terms. Instead of “I don’t want to be lazy,” opt for “I want to exercise regularly” or “I will cut down on my television watching.”
  • Break down large goals into smaller ones. For instance, commit to losing weight by resolving to join a gym and improve your eating habits.
  • Find alternatives to a behavior that you want to change, and make this part of your resolution plan. So you want to quit smoking but you smoked to relax yourself? What other forms of relaxation are available to you?
  • Above all, aim for things that are truly important to you, not what you think you ought to do or what others expect of you.

Need Some Inspiration?

Success Magazine recently picked their favorite inspirational quotes to share. Now, we come across dozens of these per day, whether in our favorite books or simply strolling through our Twitter stream. So why post them here? The hope is that you’ll take these and actually learn from them.

Take these and post them in your office. Write them in a sticky note on your laptop. To come across wisdom and simply ignore and let it not impact you is nearly as bad as not seeking out wisdom at all.
